Hello, Warcraft’ers, and welcome back to another edition of the WoW Diary. My time with the game was somewhat limited over the past week but I did brave a few hours in Hardcore and attempt to earn a few coppers in Retail WoW. Let’s dive in!
(If you’d like to catch up with last week’s entry: you can find it here.)
World of Warcraft: Classic Hardcore
Brewbottle the Hunter, and his pet, Fuzzbottle, shot and chewed their way to level 16 adventuring around Thelsamar in Loch Modan (pictured above). Many Mountain Boars, Elder Black Bears, and Forest Lurker Spiders were decimated and their insides ripped out to create some delectable sausages. A great number of Kobolds were also eliminated and crates of supplies they had pilfered were snatched back from the Silver Stream Mine and delivered to the local constabulary.
There’s something pure, and highly nostalgic about Vanilla WoW and I find that very appealing. Having played so much of the base game over the years though, I do enjoy the added Hardcore tension of having but a single life to help keep my attention riveted.
It’s so-far-so good with Brewbottle and I hope this Hunter is the one I can take all the way to the level cap. I’m nearly 65% confident I’ll make it. Place your bets and stay tuned.
World of Warcraft Retail: Dragonflight
My time in Modern WoW was split between running a number of old dungeons and trying to earn some gold via the Auction House.
After the weekly reset on Tuesday, I posted something like 100 items up for sale. Tons of armor, weapons, and a few crafting recipes were ticketed to fly off the shelves with prices lower than the usual going rates. And my total haul after 48 hours was…four sales…worth 2,400 gold. Better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick but still a pretty disappointing result.
So many expired auctions, so little gold
I intend to keep trying, as I’d like to get back to earning enough gold to play the game for free. I’m not sure I’ll be able to scoop up enough each month without installing the Trade Skill Master add-on and once again trying to wrap my head around its complications. I was somewhat successful doing this a few years back.
And finally this week, I ran more dusty old dungeons with my Protection Warrior Rootbeard. This time around I honed in on Blackrock Mountain and blasted my way through Upper and Lower Blackrock Spire, Blackrock Caverns, and Blackrock Depths. Much loot was gathered and many Scarshield and Bloodaxe Orcs were sent to that Great Respawn in the Sky.
I coulda sworn I heard somethin’…
At the time of this writing, the Pre-Patch for The War Within expansion is only 4 days away. It’s always an exciting time to be a WoW player in the final hours before fresh new content and big changes arrive. I’ll wish you a Happy Pre-Patch now and discuss how everything is playing out next time.
Take care, fellow travelers. Elune-adore!
