Blizzard Talks AI

Posted on September 3, 2025September 3, 2025 by Two Hammers

What do the developers at Blizzard Entertainment think about AI and its use in their games like World of Warcraft? I’m glad you asked. In an article at Eurogamer, developers Gabriel Gonzalez and Maria Hamilton admit AI is creeping into the workflow, but say it will never beat the human touch.

I hope Blizzard keep AI relegated to behind-the-scenes drudge work and we never see art, story, or voices created by artificial intelligence. Mechanical fingers-crossed and all that.

Eurogamer Quote:

“‘I think for us, and the way we can think about AI and the tools and how we might or might not integrate them goes back to ‘how do we find ways to do away with the more menial parts of the work,’ and free up more time for people to be creative,’ the developer continues. ‘One of the examples we have been focusing on recently is helm fitting, so for the character workflow, currently, it’s like the way that different helmets fit on a character needs to be changed for each of the races, right?'”
