Welcome to the first installment of Two Hammers’ WoW Diary! My plan for Fridays going forward is to post a round-up of my personal week in Warcraft gaming. Which characters progressed or created, interesting, annoying, or humorous situations that presented themselves, and goals reached or missed. That sort of thing. I hope you’ll find it interesting, especially while you’re sitting at work, secretly surfing the web instead of completing those TPS reports.
It’s really amazing that there are so many versions of WoW to dive into these days. There just isn’t enough time in a week to engage with all of them – but I’m crazy and obsessed enough to take a crack at it. Let’s hop in.
Mists of Pandaria: Remix
Most of my WoW playtime over the past seven days has been devoted to MoP Remix. Early in the week, I finished leveling my first character, Tincan – a Mechagnome Marksmanship Hunter, to 70. I really enjoyed the experience. It was fast, fun, and constantly felt rewarding. Tincan hit the level cap while turning in a Klaxxi quest in Dread Wastes.
That same evening, I eagerly fired up a new character. I really wanted to see how fast the leveling would be with an inherited Cloak of Infinite Potential. It was absolutely a faster experience. Fun and somewhat frenetic, but certainly speedier.
Brewberry scoopin’ up the floaty Bronze balls
The new character, Brewberry – a Dwarf Arcane Mage, didn’t feel quite as powerful as my Hunter. He was a lot of fun to play, and I barreled through the content, but getting the right combo of Tinker Gems to fill every gear slot, as well as gems for prismatic slots, took a good while. Brewberry hit 70 this afternoon. He ticked over to the level cap killing the Sha of Anger World Boss. Total time to level 70 – only 16 hours. Not too shabby. I only quested out two zones as well. There’s a lot more of Bronze-covered Pandaria still waiting to be devoured.
Before moving on, I’ve got to mention that while playing Tincan two weeks back, I purchased a few new mounts and unexpectedly hit the Mountacluar achievement (obtain 250 mounts usable by a single character). I was rewarded with the glowing-green Felfire Hawk mount. An awesome surprise that brought a smile to my mount-collecting heart. (Can hearts smile?)

World of Warcraft Classic Hardcore
Between bouts of Mop Remix, I continued chipping away at the herculean climb to the level 60 cap in WoW Classic Hardcore. My Human Subtlety Rogue, Slickstick, progressed from level 56 to 58. Only two levels to go! I’ve been questing, carefully, in the higher-level zones; Silithus, Felwood, and Winterspring. After many deaths playing Hunters and Mages, it looks like I may actually achieve success with my wily Rogue.
I also kept my Dwarf bank alt, Goldbones, busy selling the loot Slickstick has been slowly gathering. The player base on Skull Rock has diminished over the past weeks, so Auction House sales are harder to come by. There definitely seemed to be more people playing, and buying things, prior to the launch of Season of Discovery and MoP Remix. Still, Goldbones has accrued just over 500 gold and Slick usually carries around 50g give-or-take. I can buy anything reasonably priced when needed, without issue.
And, in that vein, I was excited to finally find an affordable level 50+ dagger for sale yesterday. There hasn’t been anything listed at all in the 50 to 60 range for weeks. I grabbed that level 57 Demon Blade of the Tiger for Slickstick faster than you can say “Dagger Rogue? You should be using swords!”

WoW Retail: Dragonflight
My army of level 70 WoW Retail characters have mostly been dormant over the past week (and in most cases, much longer). I’m waiting for good reasons, beyond earning some much-needed gold, to log them in. That time is fast-approaching though, with the impending arrival of The War Within pre-patch. I do generally log in my main, Tipton, the Gnome Assassination Rogue, for some weeklies on Tuesday or Wednesday. It just didn’t happen this week with all the MoPin’.
That said, I did make my first Mechagnome a few weeks ago and have begun leveling him through Chromie-fired Burning Crusade content. Topper, the Fury Warrior, (see image at the top of the post) is now level 28 and parked at the Telredor inn in Zangarmarsh.
I only fired up my first Mechagnome this month after completing the recently-added (or finally noticed) questline to unlock the race. I had been wanting to create a Mechagnome since BfA but hadn’t been able to solo the Operation: Mechagon instance to complete the requirements. Long story short, I’m happy to finally be running around as one of the squeaky lil’ devils.
Cataclysm Classic
I just can’t muster any excitement for Cataclysm Classic and haven’t downloaded the client. I own the 2010 Cataclysm Collector’s Edition and played through the original expac from launch day – and that seems to have been enough. I can’t be the only longtime player who feels this way and I’m very curious to see how well Cata Classic does. I suppose we won’t hear any official player numbers unless the thing is a smashing success. I don’t see that happening but would love to be proven wrong.
That about wraps it up for the debut Diary. I’ll see you here next week. Keep your feet on the ground!
