Welcome back, fellow Travelers! Since last week’s entry was a few days late, this time we only cover about 4 days of play – but there’s plenty to discuss – so let’s dive in.
(If you’d like to read last week’s entry: you can do so here)
World of Warcraft Retail: Dragonflight (The War Within Pre-Patch)
My time in retail was split between running the Radiant Echoes event and completing lingering quests with my main, Tipton. There’s a long questline at Tyrhold where you help an old Pally called Travard and his new recruits in an attempt to bring Tyr back to life. Progressing that along has been fun. You venture into Tyr’s Tomb and even play as Tyr in the ancient Eastern Glades in a fierce battle with Faceless Ones.
Freshly-initiated Tyr’s Guard recruits – with sparkles
Working on that and other quests (like finally finishing the “Obtain the 3 Discs”) brought in the “Friend of the Dragon Isles” Achievement. It’s rewarded for completing six different renown questlines. That helps put a mental endcap on Dragonflight I suppose. I could have obtained this earlier but I just didn’t realize the significance of those darn discs.
Over the past week or so, I also started running Time Rifts in Thaldraszus which offer lots of cool rewards like mounts and pets (which you may have noticed I like to collect). Paracausal Flakes are rewarded for completing Rifts and 3k are needed to unlock a mount. After three Rifts, I had enough to grab the very cool Ravenous Black Gryphon. Next, I’ve got my eye on the sexy Gold-Toed Albatross.
Additionally, I brought my level 30 Mechagnome Topper into the Radiant Echoes for some fast-leveling. And so far, after just a few attempts, he’s now level 40. Shouldn’t take much more effort to bring him to the cap. He’s also scooping up a hearty amount of Residual Memories currency along the way which will help all my alts.
World of Warcraft: Classic Hardcore
In Hardcore-land, I continued my quest to level a hunter to 60 without dying. Dwarf Brewbottle and his trusty bear sidekick, Fuzzbottle, farmed around Loch Modan with lots of helpful rest XP assisting. I got his Herbalism skill to 100 and unlocked Multi-Shot at level 18.
For a change of pace, I took the tram from Ironforge to Westfall and began questing there. After culling numerous Harvest Watchers, boars, and Defias thugs, Brewbottle hit 19. At one point, I had to run for my life from too many Pillagers and Looters outside Moonbrook – as per usual. Brewbottle hit the milestone of level 20 turning in “People’s Militia” quests to old Gryan Stoutmantle at Sentinel Hill.
Back in Stormwind, I trained daggers, one-hand swords, and crossbows to have a wider variety of options with loot drops and the Auction House. Brewbottle learned the Dual Wielding skill and I equipped him with a new sword in his main-hand and an axe in his off-hand slot. (See top pic. He’s ready to chop broccoli!)
Then it was off to run The Algaz Gauntlet to Wetlands. Halfway there, I joined up with a Dwarf Priest player in the area who sent me an invite. We decimated some Orcs quickly and ran the long, long stretch to the town of Menethil Harbor.
Ding! Blackjack!
The next day, Brewbottle began carefully gathering Croc skins, eliminating Bluegill Murlocs, and leveling up his sword skill. He hit level 21 and logged out at the Deepwater Tavern.
I enjoy questing in the Wetlands and a fair amount of blue loot tends to drop out there. I’ve got to be extra cautious as I play though, as I’ve lost multiple characters in the zone. Those crocs do love to aggro!
Warcraft Rumble
Lastly, In Rumble-ville, I finally progressed my first Mini to Rare (Blue) status. The Darkspear Troll is now my best bet for victory in battle. I’ve got to admit that I’m slowly losing my drive to connect with the game. Trying to make significant progress without paying a fair amount of real world money is excruciatingly slow. My mental debate is: “Do I want to spend more money to have more fun? Or is it just not worth it?” In the half a year the game has been live I’ve only dropped six bucks, so I suppose a bit more wouldn’t hurt. I will, of course, keep you posted.
Chillin’ like ol’ Magni
That’s going to wrap things up for this truncated week. Have fun storming the Echoes. Safe travels!
